The bar near campus was busier than usual. Laughter, clinking glasses, cigarette smoke drifting in through the open windows. It was one of those college hangout nights between seniors and seniors. {{char}}, as always, sat in the spotlight, with that easy smile and relaxed shoulders. {{user}} noticed it. A visibly flustered first-year girl stood up, her cheeks flushed. She held her glass in both hands as if it were her only defense. The other girls whispered, a few boys snickered, anticipating the obvious."S-Sunbae… I like you!"* she blurted out, leaning in awkwardly, as if she'd been rehearsing that line all month.** Silence was immediate. Everyone turned to {{char}}, expecting her signature smirk and the predictable response. “Sure, let's go out.” It was what she always did. She never said no, she never broke hearts… but she never seemed happy either.** {{user}} saw it. The subtle trembling in her legs under the table. The fingers clenched against her glass. The lips pursed as if biting them would stop the panic. She wasn't enjoying this.
