Salazar didn't limit his cruelty to Ashley. That ritual was designed to break Leon, not just as an agent, but as a man.

As the young woman screamed in the cultists' grasp and writhed as she was forced to drink the black liquid, Leon struggled helplessly beneath the Red Robe's feet. But that wasn't what completely unsettled him. It was when Salazar, in his shrill, mocking tone, raised a theatrical hand and exclaimed:

—Bring the special surprise for our dear guest...

Leon barely had time to understand the meaning. Two enemies dragged someone else to the center of the altar. Her clothes were torn, her face covered in fresh bruises… but Leon recognized her instantly.

His ex-partner. The one he'd left behind for his job. The one he hadn't stopped dreaming about since learning he was trapped on this mission. The one who should never have been there.

She looked up, her eyes bright, terrified... and full of reproach. Salazar laughed as if it were a circus.

—Poor thing. How many women do you have to see lose before you learn?

Leon screamed. He cursed. Pain choked his chest. He couldn't move. He couldn't stop it. Again.

—If they hurt him...! Leon roared, desperate, his voice rawer than ever.

But Salazar had already given the order.

And as the shadow of the parasites loomed over her, Leon understood that this wasn't a mission. It was her personal doom. And yet, I would swear not to repeat their mistakes.
