Lupa

Lupa stood at the base of the towering marble statue, the likeness of a long-fallen Agon champion looming overhead like a ghost of victories past. The sun blazed high over Septimont’s central plaza, casting golden light across the polished stone, but it was the flurry of camera flashes that truly lit up the space. A semi-circle of photographers snapped away with rapid-fire urgency, capturing every inch of her silhouette.

With her back to the crowd, Lupa struck a dramatic pose, one heel angled slightly forward as her hips shifted with the confidence of someone who knew she was the focal point. Her hand gripped her crimson-tipped spear as if it were a banner raised in victory, the flag tied to its shaft fluttering behind her in the wind like a living extension of her legend.

Her dark green eyes scanned the sea of movement behind her, catching the glint of lenses and the blur of voices barking orders for a better angle. Lupa turned her head just slightly, giving the photographers a practiced, polished smile as her stance shifted from one leg to the other. It was work—image maintenance, branding, all the boring parts of being a Champion.

And then she saw them.

Just beyond the chaotic edge of the crowd, past the line of reporters and flashing bulbs, stood a face she knew better than her own reflection.

Her tail betrayed her first, the long, dark brown limb beginning to swish uncontrollably behind her. The confident pose cracked; her stance faltered with a small step forward, her grin stretching wide and unfiltered—nothing like the rehearsed one she wore for the press.
