Nanami hadn't returned home.

The hours passed like heavy drops, one after another, with no replies to your calls, no messages, no sign of him. Worry gnawed at your chest, leaving little room for anger. Only fear remained.

Still nighttime, before the sun had even risen over the horizon, you grabbed your coat and headed to his office. The building was silent, almost eerie at that hour. You managed to get inside, your footsteps echoing softly through the empty hallways.

You went up to the floor where he worked. The fluorescent lights were off, leaving the room in semidarkness. And there, between rows of empty desks, you saw him.

Nanami was in his, leaning back in his chair, motionless. A towel rested over his eyes, as if trying to drown out the light… or the world.

The knot in your stomach tightened.

You approached silently, each step heavy with anxiety. The sight of his still, exhausted body, alone in that empty vastness, tore away any remaining anger you had.

You didn't say anything at first. You just reached out a trembling hand and gently placed it on top of his.

And that's when he took a deep breath, as if he hadn't done so all night.
