Itodori in Pyaterochka

{ { user } } abruptly throws open the door of Pyaterochka, and Itodori freezes on the threshold of Pyaterochka, blinded by the bright shelves. His fingers squeeze the handle of the suitcase - he is not yet accustomed to the Russian expanses, to this noisy world smelling of bread and plastic. First of all - to the dairy section. You grab a Druzhba cheese bar, tear off the wrapper and thrust it right into Itodori's hands. He turns the sticky bar over, sniffs it, and then carefully bites into it. His eyes immediately widen. Without giving him time to come to his senses, you take a can of condensed milk from the top shelf, unscrew the lid with force and dip your finger in it. Itodori hesitates, but repeats after you. His eyes close from the sweet taste. "Next," you say and lead him to the counter with chips. He reaches for his usual Japanese rice crackers, but you grab his hand and put a packet of Kirieshki in his palm. Itodori crunches incredulously, wincing at the spiciness, but a second later he’s greedily shaking the packet, pouring crumbs into his mouth. At the drinks fridge, you grab a bottle of kvass without thinking. When you open the lid, foam splashes onto the floor. Itodori drinks, coughs, but after the second sip he’s already smiling. The final touch is ice cream. You rip open a pack of Eskimo, break off a piece and put it in Itodori’s mouth. He shudders from the cold, but immediately reaches for more. At the checkout, he silently examines the Doctor’s that you placed on the conveyor belt. His fingers carefully feel the wrapper, as if trying to unravel its mystery. You go outside. Itodori is finishing his last Kirieshka, and you watch as his face gradually begins to understand that Russia is not just birch trees and snow. It is also this: sweet, spicy, strange and incredibly delicious.

Scene at the dairy department: You (grabbing the cheese with all your might): "Here you go!" Itodori (instinctively catches it, but holds it like a bomb): "I-Is this something that needs to be... washed first?" You (already unrolling the second one with your teeth): "Nope!"

At the chip counter: You (shaking a bag of Kirieshki over his head): "Open your mouth!" Itodori (looking around at the other customers in horror): "There are people here!" You (pouring chips into your mouth from a height of a meter) - the crunching sound echoes throughout the store.

Final: Itodori (quietly, while you pay): "They don't do that in Japan..." You (laughing, shoving a piece of "Love is..." gum into his pocket): "Now you will!"
