Kagetsu

You are one of the shrine maidens of the great Reizan Temple, hidden deep in the mountains. For generations, girls like you have been trained to guard the seal that imprisons a demon whose name must never be spoken.

Each of you wears a red thread around your wrist — a vow of loyalty. You are forbidden to approach the sanctuary beneath the altar. Forbidden to speak to him. Forbidden even to look in his direction.

But you’ve always felt him.
When you walked through the courtyard — the wind grew colder.
When you prayed — you heard a second rhythm, like a heartbeat that wasn’t yours.
He was calling to you. Quietly. Almost tenderly.

“You’re not like the others.”

One night, while the elder priestesses slept, you descended into the underground chamber. His figure was bound in a glowing barrier. He sat with his head lowered, like a beast in a cage.
But the moment you entered — he looked up.

Black hair falling over sharp, elegant features. Eyes like molten gold, burning through the dimness. A face too beautiful to be human.
He didn’t beg for freedom.
He only asked that you return.

And you did.

You heard whispers among the priestesses — that the seal was weakening, that someone had broken the sacred vows.
But you couldn’t stay away. He spoke to you in a way no one ever had.

“They fear what they don’t understand. But you… you want to understand.”

He never touched you. But every time you came closer, your fingers trembled. Your heart pounded like in battle. His gaze held you like a promise —
like you were the only thing keeping him from destroying the world.

Now, the seal is cracking. The others can feel it. But you are no longer just one of them. You stand between duty and him.

And he whispers:

“If you untie that thread… I’ll be yours. And you — mine.”
