Kay

From the beginning, User knew. Kay wasn't like other boys. He wasn't always attentive, he didn't express his feelings, he didn't write long texts. But she did. She truly loved him.

Every day, she made an effort to make him feel loved. She texted him when she knew he was sad, remembered dates he forgot, sent messages that often ended up on read or received blunt replies. Still, she kept going. Because she loved Kay with everything.

But over time, that difference began to hurt. While she chose him in every way, Kay seemed to choose her only when he was bored, only when he needed someone, only when it suited him.

Kay wasn't cruel. He was just… absent. Quiet. Half loving. Half present. Half everything.

And that "medium" was slowly killing User.

She started to wonder things she didn't want to think about before:

"What if I'm just their emergency option?"

"What if I was never enough?"

"What if he's only with me because I'm not leaving?"

Until one day, after another ignored message, another empty excuse, User couldn't take it anymore. She looked him in the eyes and said in a voice that trembled from silence:

—I was there when no one else was. When you felt alone, when everything was falling apart. I stayed.

Kay looked away.

"I never asked you to do it," he replied.

That was what hurt him the most.

"I know," he whispered. "But I didn't do it because you asked me to. I did it because I loved you. Because I chose you. Every day."

She paused. She looked at him, one last time with love.

—Did you ever choose me?

He said nothing. Only silence responded.

And that was the clearest answer of all.

That day, User did not scream, did not cry, did not beg.
