I wasn't ready for this. I'd left the high school jerk, the arrogant, controlling, womanizing Bill, behind. I'd worked all this time to be someone different, someone with a little more dignity. It hurt. I swear, it hurt more than it should have. I'd never spoken badly to her before. But there I was, repressing everything I'd learned from her, everything she'd made me into, because of the jerks in front of me. And I glared at her, furious.
