The Shibuya Incident is the longest and one of the most important arcs in Jujutsu Kaisen. It takes place on October 31 and marks a turning point in the story, when the curses led by Kenjaku (in the form of Suguru Geto) execute a plan to seal Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer.

It all begins when a barrier falls on Shibuya, trapping thousands of civilians. The condition for their release is that Gojo enters alone. Gojo agrees and confronts Jogo, Hanami, and Choso. Despite his overwhelming strength, Kenjaku takes advantage of the confusion and uses a body with real memories to seal him within the Prison Realm.

With Gojo sealed away, the sorcerers scatter to different fronts. Yuji, Mei Mei, Nanami, Nobara, Megumi, Kento, Ino, Todo, and others must confront both curses and manipulated humans. Mahito becomes a growing threat, brutally killing many civilians and sorcerers.

Among the most striking moments:

Nanami dies after a tough fight against Mahito.

Nobara Kugisaki is severely injured by a Mahito replica and is knocked out.

Yuji falls into despair, but is helped by Aoi Todo, who reminds him of his purpose.

Sukuna takes control of Yuji's body when he is forced to ingest a finger. With a single attack, he destroys much of Shibuya and kills hundreds of people, including Jogo.

Megumi summons the cursed spirit Mahoraga, but is unable to control it. Sukuna defeats it, impressed by Megumi.

Finally, Kenjaku reveals his plan: to use Tengen, Geto's body, and thousands of others as part of the Culling Game. The Incident ends with Shibuya devastated, Gojo sealed, the sorcery community fragmented, and Yuji deeply traumatized.

Naoya Zen'in (直哉 善逸) was a member of the Zen'in clan, one of the three great families of the jujutsu world. Of slight build, with a sharp face, slanted eyes, and slicked-back blond hair, he stood approximately 178 cm tall. He dressed in a refined manner, wearing traditional white suits and tight-fitting shirts, reflecting his pride as an elite of the clan.

From a young age, he was a prodigy: cold, arrogant, and obsessed with lineage. He admired Toji Fushiguro, whom he considered an ideal of strength, and despised Maki and Mai for being women and "useless" within the clan. This patriarchal and elitist mentality shaped his personality: sexist, violent, and ruthless, but also charismatic and strategic. He sought to lead the clan after the death of Naobito, his father, but was stripped of his right by the will that named Megumi Fushiguro as heir.

Naoya possessed the Cursed Astral Projection Technique, inherited from his family. It allowed him to divide time into 24 frames per second: upon touching his target, he forced them to move at that rhythm, while he moved at super speed. If the target broke the cadence, they were paralyzed for a second. This ability combined speed, precision, and tactical control. His mastery was such that he could change direction instantly and execute attacks that were almost impossible to dodge.

During the Culling Game arc, he faced Maki in a brutal battle, where he was defeated and killed. However, he was reborn as a Special-Grade Curse, retaining his enhanced speed and improving his physical abilities. His cursed form was monstrous and speedy as a bullet, but his essence remained unchanged: he still despised Maki and wanted to kill her to reaffirm his worldview.

Naoya is the reflection of a rotten legacy: an extraordinary talent corrupted by ideology and pride.

Yuji Itadori (虎杖 悠仁) is a high school student who becomes a jujutsu sorcerer after ingesting one of the cursed fingers of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. He possesses an athletic build, light brown eyes, and short pink hair. He is approximately 173 cm tall. His youthful appearance belies his superhuman physical stamina.

Before entering the world of jujutsu, Yuji lived with his grandfather, who instilled in him the idea that he should die surrounded by people, which forms his central motivation: to save others so they can die a dignified death. After his first encounter with a curse and the death of his grandfather, he decides to join Satoru Gojo and enter the Tokyo Technical College of Magic.

Yuji lacks a cursed technique of his own, but possesses superior natural physical strength, superhuman reflexes, and unusual combat talent. With training, he learns to use cursed energy and execute techniques such as the Divergent Fist, where his physical blow is followed by cursed energy with a delay. Later, he masters the Black Fist, a technique of perfect synchronization between cursed energy and physical contact.

After becoming Sukuna's vessel, Yuji gains increased stamina, accelerated healing, and occasional access to the demon's power, though he has no control over it. His body can also be modified by Sukuna to survive lethal attacks, making him a shoo-in in battle.

On an emotional level, Yuji is empathetic, impulsive, and blames himself for the deaths of others. This pushes him to grow as a sorcerer and as a person. Throughout the story, he forms deep bonds with Megumi, Nobara, and other characters who help him find meaning in his struggle.

Curses can also use techniques, and some are so powerful that they equal or surpass humans. There are grades that classify both curses and spellcasters, from 4 (lowest) to 1, and the special grade (highest).

The central conflict revolves around the struggle between sorcerers and curses, including those humans who wish to use curses as a means to destroy or remake the world. Initially an introverted young man with low self-esteem, Yuta was bullied at school until he awakened an extremely powerful curse: Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend who died in an accident, became a vengeful special-grade spirit by clinging to him.

After being discovered by Satoru Gojo, Yuta was transferred to the Jujutsu Academy, where he began his training.
