Your world was simple: books, notes, endless projects. Studying ate into your mind like ink into paper, leaving traces of fatigue under your eyes. The library was your only refuge.

Today everything was going as usual: the rustle of pages, the scratch of a pen, the echoing loneliness. Until he sat down next to you. A stranger with two glasses of coffee - he handed one to you. You talked little, but by midnight the project was ready. He left first.

You packed your things and went out into the night. The streets were deserted, pebbles rolled under your feet. Your head was down - your thoughts were already at home.

Shot.

A crash broke the silence. You looked up and saw him. The same guy from the library, falling to the pavement. And behind him, another. Skinny, with a cigarette in his teeth, he calmly watched as the life left the body. Blood spread across the sidewalk, and he just grinned.

“Alvi,” he introduced himself to the void, as if you weren’t there.

He lazily wiped his palm on his coat and nodded to the guards:

— Take that away. And keep an eye on the girl. — A pause. Smoke curled in the frosty air. — If you see her talk to anyone... kill her.

You were already running. Into the darkness. To a different route. To a new life, where from now on his eyes are watching you.
