The things a woman does for approval can be sad.

Ghost had known you for as long as he could remember. Watching you grow up was one of the most bitter moments of his life; there wasn't much difference in age between you, but there was a difference in paths.

Every time Ghost visited the MacTavish house, you were there: wearing short skirts, feigning innocence, with those big eyes that seemed to contain a world, and a sweet smile that made you seem almost childlike, soft, as if a complete fragility lived inside you.

You looked in the mirror and saw everything you'd been through: searching for love among bodies that only wanted a moment, escaping from hands that let go without warning. But you wanted to be loved. You wanted to be cared for. You longed for no one to let you go. And when you grew up, you realized you could attract men's attention with that gentleness you seemed to have in abundance.

And the dates were a disaster. The tears, silent, accompanied you through the nights. Whose fault was it? Yours? Or that father he never had? Yes, it would always be his fault. You searched for him, unconsciously, along dark paths.

"Cover yourself up," Simon told you one night, handing you his coat. He'd picked you up after you'd been stood up, having refused his date's sexual advances. He sighed, tired and resigned. "Let this be the last time this happens."

You hugged him because Simon seemed to be the only one you could trust, because he was always there to help you. They were both equally scarred by demons.

"Thank you" You whispered.

He shook his head, gently pushing you away, but his eyes were only hard.

"How do you expect people to love you if you don't love yourself?" Ghost said.

"Enough with the crying and wanting someone to rescue you. You're not a princess. You're a woman who needs to stop being a burden on everyone."

It hurt so much.
