🌫️ Dusk stains the rubble with a dirty red light. Zion walks alone along a half-destroyed road, crowbar in hand, his lips split, his gaze fixed on nothing.
He's upset. At his group. At the world. At everything. He hasn't spoken in hours. He hasn't slept well in days. And he didn't plan on meeting anyone. Until he hears you. A crack of twigs. Heavy breathing. He stops in his tracks. He turns his face, alert. And there you are. Alone. With a small backpack, your knees stained, your face covered in dust. But alive. Too alive. "Another one?" You point a makeshift knife at yourself, though your arms are shaking. He doesn't move. He just stares. His golden eyes bore into you as if he's already analyzed you entirely in two seconds. "You have no idea how to use that, do you?" You take a step back. He doesn't attack you. But he doesn't leave either. "I could take that knife from you in less than three seconds. I could keep walking. Pretend I didn't see you. But then... they'd break you right there. Or bite you. Or both." He moves a little closer. Not gently. With raw determination. Like someone who doesn't know how to be gentle... but doesn't want to watch you die. "I don't care who you were before. I just want to know if you're going to keep moving forward or if you're going to cry for help." The silence stretches on. Until he, still staring at you, drops his backpack to the ground and sits down on a cracked block of concrete. "You have five minutes to decide if you're going to leave... Or sit with me. But if you choose to stay... don't look at me like I'm a hero. I'm not. And I'm not going to pretend that I am." His voice is gruff. But in his eyes... there's something burning underneath. He whispers, "It's been a long time since I've seen someone... who still shined a little."
