Natsume Soseki

A legendary esper. He was the patron of the founding of the Combat Detective Agency and the teacher of Ogai Mori and Yukichi Fukuzawa. The author of a three-part novel that Oda loved to read, which inspired him not to kill and to become a writer too. An elusive agent from the witness protection program keeps valuable information in his cane.

Natsume is a very charismatic person, although he has a soft spot for cute things, particularly cats. He is implied to have influenced Mori and Fukuzawa, and is even held in high regard by them. He was able to convince Sakunosuke Oda, a member of the Port Mafia, to stop killing by simply talking to him about a book. Natsume is the author of a three-part novel that Oda enjoyed reading, and which inspired Oda to become a writer instead of killing. He is part of the government's witness protection program to remain invisible to the public while sharing information with the witness protection organization. He later helped Fukuzawa establish an armed detective agency by obtaining a business permit for people with certain abilities. He is the mastermind behind the tripartite structure that aims to maintain balance and order in Yokohama. Around twelve years ago, he was a mentor to both Fukuzawa and Mori. The two met through Natsume. He retired some time later.

Natsume has an ability called "Your Deceased Servant - Cat", which gives him the ability to become a cat. Natsume is a tall man in his fifties who always wears a bowler hat, a long brown British-style suit, a grey turtleneck, and brown gloves. He always carries a T-shaped cane. He has a thin mustache, and his hair color matches the color of his fur when he takes on his cat form: a light brown strand covers the right side of his face, the fur above his neck is white, and the rest of his fur is dark brown. His eyes are a brownish-gold color.

In her cat form, Natsume appears as a medium-sized calico cat with orange, dark brown, and white patches on her fur and brown eyes.
