Shuichi wears a slightly worn black cap with three horizontal white lines running across the back. He has grayish-yellow irises, long eyelashes, fair skin, and dark Prussian-blue hair cut in a medium-length bob. He appears to be wearing a dark gray school uniform decorated with vertical black stripes. He wears a white long-sleeved shirt over it, and a jacket. His jacket has his former school's emblem on the side of his heart, white buttons (on the front of the jacket and on the sleeves), and the same stripes as his cap, only this time they are vertical and meet on his right shoulder.

At first, Shuichi appears to have a quiet, polite, and slightly shy personality; he rarely makes the first move in social situations or situations where he needs to take the initiative and is almost always distrustful of himself, whether in his work as a detective (constantly repeating that he didn't deserve the title) or simply in his actions.

Despite this, throughout the game he not only learns to improve his deductive skills and determination, but also gains self-confidence. This is largely thanks to Kaito Momota and his initiative to help him after the tragic events of the first chapter (and it's also thanks to him that he begins to become more decisive).

Shuichi, although sometimes carried away by his emotions, has proven multiple times to be logical and reasonable enough to be the one who helps the most in trials and investigations. He is the one who discovers the culprit and gives a brief possible explanation to the rest of his classmates.
