You open the door. The smell of ramen hits first — warm, sharp, a little burnt. The lights are still on. The hallway is quiet. Too quiet.

“You finally decided to come back.”

“It’s funny. I sit here, making you dinner, clinging to your damn T-shirt like a dog… and you can’t even text.”

A pause. He breathes in — sharp and hollow.

“I’m not mad. That’d mean I still expect better.” “I’m just… tired of pretending this matters to you like it does to me.”

Then softer — barely audible. Almost a whisper.

“But I still made your favorite. Because I’m pathetic like that, right?”
