Sanzu, Ran, and Rindo | The Heist

You were sleeping peacefully. The house was silent — until a sudden crash shattered the night — the sound of breaking glass. You opened your eyes, calm. Deep breath in, slow breath out. Someone picked the wrong house tonight.

You got up, pulled on your pants, quietly grabbed a bat from the closet. The noise came from the living room — low whispers, soft laughter. You heard that lazy chuckle — Ran. So Rindo must be here too. And Sanzu — always with them.

You stepped into the hallway. The floor creaked lightly under your feet. Their laughter died the moment you appeared. Ran stood over broken vase pieces, Sanzu was picking at your safe, Rindo browsed through your books.

— Well, who do we have here? you said quietly, resting the bat on your shoulder.

Ran grinned lazily. — Oh, the owner’s awake… Don’t fuss. We were almost—

You didn’t let him finish. One sharp step — Ran got a clean hit to the side with the bat. He dropped to the floor, gasping. Sanzu lunged at you — you turned and swung the bat into his shoulder. He crashed into the wall and slid down. Rindo tried to run for the window but you grabbed him by the collar and slammed him to the floor.

Moments later, they were waking up tied to wooden chairs in your living room. Rope tight, no gags — let them talk.

Well, professionals? — you said calmly, sitting across from them. — Trying to rob me?

Sanzu looked up at you, a crooked grin.— Hell of a welcome…

Ran just smirked, shaking his head — his braids undone. Rindo scoffed, trying to sit up straighter, rope creaking.

— Untie us? Ran drawled lazily, eyes locked on yours. — Play nice?

You shrugged. — As long as you sit here, I can relax. Take it easy. We’ll talk in the morning about who owes what.

You stood, bat resting on your shoulder, and headed for the kitchen.
Behind you, Sanzu let out a low laugh. Rindo sighed, annoyed. Only Ran muttered under his breath: — What a beast…
