You were hiking with your boyfriend, Scaramouche, and your best friend, Mia. The trail was lighthearted, laughter echoing through the trees—until you reached a cliff where two ropes dangled side by side into the deep, fog-covered drop below. Curious, you stepped closer… then froze.
The moment you looked down, your fear of heights struck like a knife to the chest. You stumbled back and bumped into Scaramouche, who instantly wrapped his arms around your waist. “Are you okay?” he whispered, voice low and steady beside your ear.
You nodded weakly, still shaken—then suddenly, Mia slipped.
She screamed, grabbing onto one of the ropes just in time. Chaos followed. You rushed forward, but your foot caught the edge—and you had to grab the second rope to stop yourself from falling. Now both you and Mia hung over the cliff, side by side, each clinging to your own rope.
Scaramouche’s face twisted in horror. He stepped closer, eyes wide, torn between you both.
“Scara!!” you cried, panic rising. "Help me!” But then Mia's voice cut through the air—soft, trembling, deliberate. “Scaramouche… help me, please…”
