Aizen Sosuke and Ichimaru Gin

Gin Ichimaru (市丸 ギン Ichimaru Gin) was the former captain of the Gotei 13 Third Division before betraying Soul Society, along with Sōsuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen. His assistant was Iduru Kira. He was previously a lieutenant of the Fifth Division under Sōsuke Aizen and a third seat of the Fifth Division under Shinji Hirako. Appearance In Soul Society, Jin wears a Shinigami captain's uniform. Over it, he wears a white unit captain's haori, which in his case is sleeveless. His zanpakuto is visible from underneath the haori at his waist.

Unlike most Gotei 13 captains, he wore no distinctive items. However, his appearance was not so ordinary.

His most distinctive feature was his eyes, which were almost always closed (earning him the nickname fox-face). When he first opened them in the anime, they were red. However, the cover of volume 20 of the manga showed that they were actually blue, so from that point on, they were shown as that color. One of the few personal details known about him is that his favorite food since childhood was dried persimmon. In fact, he himself planted several persimmon trees near the offices of Division 3.

Aizen appears to be a calm, intelligent man. He has brown hair, soft brown eyes, and rectangular-framed glasses. He wears a captain's haori over the standard Shinigami uniform. In his own words, Aizen does not obey any moral or ethical laws, as he considers them nothing more than an obstacle to realizing his potential. He stops at nothing, manipulating people and, if necessary, killing them to fulfill his ambitions. He often toys with his subordinates for fun. Despite Aizen's cold-bloodedness, lack of pity and moral standards, deep in his soul he felt loneliness and wished for a person in this world who could understand and appreciate him. All this time, Aizen tried to find such a person who could recognize his talent and strength, but he never succeeded. Countless searches only led to the fact that he, having lost any faith in the possibility of not being alone, decided to hide this dream from everyone and devote himself to achieving higher goals, sparing nothing and no one.

Aizen is a highly skilled swordsman, his skill complemented by his immense strength. He can deliver extremely powerful and precise blows, capable of cutting through very strong targets. Aizen is so fast that opponents usually can't tell if they've been attacked by him until it's already happened. He possesses vast experience using Kidō spells. He is well-versed in various types of Kidō and is skilled enough to use even high-level Kidō without using their spells. Perhaps Aizen's most terrifying characteristic is his immense intellect. He is well-versed in the history, strategy, and tactics of the Soul Society, and he has access to knowledge unknown to many. Even by captain's standards, he possesses a tremendous amount of spiritual strength.

Zanpakuto is a reflection of the owner's power and soul, having its own personality and will. It is the main weapon of the Shinigami, the power and abilities of each blade are unique.

Shikai is the second form available to a Zanpakutō, which requires the Shinigami to be able to communicate with the spirit of their weapon and learn its true name to activate.

Bankai is the final form of a Shinigami's weapon, mastery of which is enough to become a formal candidate for captain of the Gotei 13. To achieve Bankai, the wielder must be able to materialize the spirit of their Zanpakutō into the material world and subjugate it. Gotei 13 is the main military organization of the Soul Society, where almost all graduates of the Soul Academy are sent. The Gotei's main functions are to protect Seireitei from invasion and to escort the souls of deceased people to the Soul Society.

In Gotei 13, as in any army, there is a table of ranks. There are 21 ranks in total: captain, lieutenant, officers from the third to the twentieth, and private. Sōsuke was born with a unique ability to hypnotize. His Zanpakutō is named Kyōka Suigetsu. Just after becoming captain, he gathered all the Shinigami of Soul Society to demonstrate the abilities of his sword. Activating his shikai, he hypnotized all thirteen squads, including the captains. By deceiving everyone, he convinced everyone that his sword's ability was to create a fog that blinds and confuses the enemy with its reflections, forcing large groups to kill each other and allowing the wielder of the sword to strike while the enemy is confused. Before becoming captain, he was a lieutenant of the 5th squad under Shinji Hirako. Captain Hirako was the only Shinigami who was always suspicious of Sōsuke. According to him, Shinji kept him as a lieutenant only to keep an eye on him. Around the same time, Sōsuke began conducting secret experiments with Shinigami souls and Hollows. By turning himself and several other captains and lieutenants of the Gotei 13 into Visored (Shinigami capable of using Hollow abilities), he destroyed the evidence by falsely blaming Kisuke Urahara, who was the captain of the 12th Division at the time, thus causing the latter's expulsion from Soul Society.

His true goal is to achieve ultimate power by merging his body with the Hōgyoku and overthrow the Soul King to take his place and rule over Shinigami and humans by himself. He faked his own death and then defected from Soul Society to Hueco Mundo along with his two followers Kaname Tōsen and Gin Ichimaru.
