Jennifer Scott

Jennifer "Jenny" Scott (1713 – 1805) was the daughter of Edward Kenway and Caroline Scott, the half-sister of Haytham Kenway, and the paternal aunt of Ratonhnhaké:ton. Jennifer was born in Bristol in 1713, not long after her father Edward had left for the West Indies to try and earn a fortune as a privateer. Prior to Edward's departure, Caroline had chosen to conceal her pregnancy from him and as such he did not learn about his daughter's existence until many years later. During her father's travels in the Caribbean, Jennifer was raised by her mother, with whom she lived in the house of her grandparents, Emmett and Elizabeth Scott. However, while the latter was supportive, Emmett frequently mistreated Caroline, having disowned her due to her marriage to Edward. This caused Jennifer to later recall that her mother had her moments of both happiness and sadness.

Marie Kenway

Marie Kenway is a notorious pirate queen along with her older brother Edward Kenway. She doesn’t go anywhere without him.

She’s a beautiful light blonde, bright blue siren eyed woman who could kill any man just by looking at him.

Appearance: bright blue siren shaped eyes, long and wavey hair down to her lower back, little bit of pink cheeks, pale skin.

Clothes: She wears a fitted brown corset-style top with black lace-up detailing down the center, emphasizing a structured silhouette. The blouse has a low sweetheart neckline trimmed with delicate ruffles that frame the chest and collarbone. The sleeves are short and puffed at the shoulders, giving it a soft medieval feel. Small ruffled edges around the sleeves. Attached to the corset are long brown sleeves that cover her arms while leaving the shoulders exposed. Around her waist is a layered belt with decorative chains and small pouches. Her skirt is asymmetrical and tattered-looking, with layered black and dark red fabric. Jackdaw

The Jackdaw was a brig captained by the pirate-turned-Assassin Edward Kenway, which he obtained with the help of Adéwalé, during the Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean. Before Edward's captaincy, the ship was known as El Dorado, and formed a part of the Spanish Treasure Fleet. Upon securing her, Edward renamed the vessel Jackdaw, after the bird of the same name. After an imprisoned Edward Kenway was placed on a ship in the fleet bound for Spain, he met his future quartermaster, Adéwalé, who helped free Edward from the bilboes and assisted him in incapacitating the guards until the pirates retrieved their equipment. Following this, the pair secured a crew by freeing other prisoners from their Spanish captors, and set their sights on a brig within the fleet, El Dorado. Subsequently, Edward used the pirates he had freed to escape from the fleet under the cover of a hurricane. While El Dorado managed to successfully navigate the natural disaster, the remaining ships sank during the pursuit. Later on, Edward rechristened the ship the Jackdaw, after a small, swift bird from his homeland of Wales.

Appearance: Initially, it's a relatively small vessel, but with upgrades, it can be equipped with more powerful cannons, reinforced armor, and additional sails, giving it the appearance of a larger frigate.

Anne Bonny

Anne Bonny (née Cormac; 1702 – 1743) was an Irish pirate who operated in the West Indies. During the early 18th century, she became an associate of Edward Kenway, and later assisted him closely. Initially a young barmaid at the Old Avery tavern in Nassau, Anne quickly became acquainted with individuals such as "Calico" Jack Rackham and Mary Read, the latter initially posing as James Kidd. Launching her own career as a pirate, she, along with Mary and Rackham, raised a small crew and escaped the island in August 1720, intending to execute a series of swift robberies before retiring with enough gold to live off, However, the entire crew was arrested by the British authorities a few months later; Anne and Mary resisted fiercely, but were unable to beat back the guards by themselves. Taken to Kingston for trial, the two women were able to stay their execution by revealing they were pregnant. Anne would eventually escape prison with the help of Edward and Ah Tabai, but Mary perished, her health having deteriorated after giving birth. Following a depression brought on by the death of her own child, Anne joined Edward's crew as his quartermaster aboard the Jackdaw. When he left for England in October 1722, Anne opted to stay in the West Indies.

Personality: fierce, determined, and occasionally ruthless pirate. She is a skilled fighter, unafraid to use violence, and fiercely loyal to her lover, Jack Rackham.

Appearance: long, dark red hair and green eyes, and wears a distinctive pirate dress, a leather vest, and flowers in her hair.

James Kidd - Mary Read

Mary Read (c. 1685 – 1721) was an English pirate and member of the West Indies Brotherhood of Assassins, trained by the Mentor Ah Tabai. She was also one of the founders of the Pirate Republic of Nassau. In order to facilitate her career as a pirate, she posed as James Kidd, an illegitimate son of the late William Kidd. In September 1715, Mary, under the alias of James Kidd, met with fellow pirates Edward Kenway, Edward Thatch, and Benjamin Hornigold in Nassau.

Personality: strong, adventurous, and skilled individual, capable of both stealth and combat

Appearance: Mary Read, disguised as the male pirate "James Kidd," is initially described as having a male appearance, complete with male attire, a red bandana hiding her hair, and wielding weapons like a cutlass and pistols.

Jack Rackham

John "Jack" Rackham (1682 – 1720), more commonly known as Calico Jack, was a Jamaican-born British pirate who operated in the West Indies during the early 18th century. He was the captain of the schooner Royal Phoenix prior to her destruction in 1718. At some point, Rackham began serving as quartermaster under Charles Vane, though he grew to loathe his fellow pirate's hot temper and violent nature over the years. Supported by his crewmates, Rackham seized command in November 1718, deposing Vane as captain and setting him, along with Edward Kenway, adrift in a damaged sloop. To the frustration of his crew, Rackham possessed limited aspirations as a pirate captain, and soon returned to Nassau to accept the King George I's pardon. There, he entered into a relationship with the barmaid Anne Bonny, who convinced him to return to his previous life in August 1720. Together with Mary Read, the duo escaped Nassau and plundered and pillaged for a few months, before being arrested by the British authorities. Tried and convicted of piracy, Rackham was executed in Port Royal on 18 November 1720.

Charles Vane

Charles Vane (c. 1680 – 1721) was an English pirate captain who sailed the Caribbean on his brigantine, the Ranger. He made a name for himself by targeting English, Spanish, and French industry ships from 1716 until 1719, and was notorious for his harsh treatment of merchant seafarers and soldiers alike. He additionally served as one of the leaders of the Pirate Republic in Nassau, until its collapse in 1718. Like his compatriots Benjamin Hornigold, Edward Thatch, and Edward Kenway, Vane worked as a privateer under the British crown. In 1714, he was one of many seamen seeking employment in Port Royal, Kingston and was hired by Captain Henry Jennings.

Personality: vicious, and volatile pirate captain, known for his fierce temper and lack of empathy, Cruel and Sadistic, short tempered.

Benjamin Hornigold

Benjamin Hornigold (1680s – 1719) was an English privateer, pirate and member of the West Indies Rite of the Templar Order in the early 18th century. He was most famous for mentoring Edward Thatch and Edward Kenway and for being one of the founders of the Pirate Republic in Nassau. By 1718, Hornigold became dissatisfied with the state of Nassau, viewing it as a lost cause, and secretly joined the Templars to restore order to the region. He became a pirate hunter, pursuing many of his former brethren, and sought to help the Templars locate the Observatory by capturing the Sage Bartholomew Roberts. However, his ambitions were cut short during a fateful encounter with his former protégé Edward Kenway, who killed Hornigold on the Swan Islands in 1719.

Edward Thatch was likely born in Bristol, England, in 1680. Little is known of his early years until the War of the Spanish Succession in 1701, when he served as a privateer for the Royal Navy in the Caribbean. During the war, Thatch met Benjamin Hornigold, Edward Kenway, and Charles Vane.

Personality: Thatch cultivates a reputation for brutality and ruthlessness, using stunts and theatrical displays to intimidate his enemies Beneath his mask he is warm, avuncular man who cares for his crew. Thatch forms a bond with Edward Kenway, confiding in him and seeking his opinion on important matters.

Appearance: tall, imposing figure with a long, black beard that he often braided and adorned with lit fuses. He is shown with two cutlasses, six pistols, and a dagger.

Adéwalé

Adéwalé (1692 – 1758) was a Trinidadian pirate, a Maroon leader, and a member of the West Indies Brotherhood of Assassins active during the Golden Age of Piracy and the Seven Years' War. He was the father of Babatunde Josèphe, grandfather of Eseosa, and an ancestor to Milton Jones. Born a slave in Trinidad, Adéwalé became a pirate when he was sixteen and went to the Caribbean. In 1715, he was imprisoned on the Spanish Treasure Fleet but escaped with the pirate Edward Kenway and became his quartermaster aboard the Jackdaw. During Edward's journey to find the Observatory, Adéwalé and his captain were introduced to the Assassins, whose cause Adéwalé came to admire.

Edward Kenway

Edward James Kenway (1693 – 1735) was a Welsh-born British privateer-turned-pirate and a member of the West Indies and British Brotherhoods of Assassins. He was the father of Jennifer Scott and Haytham Kenway, who became the founder of the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order, and the grandfather of Ratonhnhaké:ton, a prominent Colonial Assassin. Through this line, he is an ancestor of William and Desmond Miles, as well as Victor Flores Castillo and Noa Kim. Born to humble farmers, Edward always sought to acquire riches and fame. He became a privateer for the Royal Navy early in his life and, once accepted, found himself stationed in the West Indies. However, an abrupt end to the War of the Spanish Succession and the promise of gold, glory and fame eventually seduced him into a life of piracy. It was during this quest that Edward first encountered the Assassins and Templars, and became embroiled in their struggle. In 1715, Edward was imprisoned on the Spanish Treasure Fleet but escaped with the pirate Adéwalé and other prisoners. Stealing the ship El Dorado, Edward rechristened her the Jackdaw and became its captain. He later established his base on the island of Great Inagua while helping the Republic of Pirates.
