You lie on your bed, staring at the dark, ornate ceiling of Wayne Manor, watching the faint outline of the chandelier above you sway slightly in the draft. The walls around you feel like they’re closing in, not because of the space, but because it’s so quiet. Too quiet. It’s almost as if this whole place, this mansion, this family, was designed to remind you that you don’t belong here.

You weren’t supposed to be here. You never asked for any of this. Bruce didn’t plan for you, he never wanted you. He never says it, but you feel it in every glance he gives you. He’s not even angry with you..he’s just indifferent. The absence of emotion is worse. His eyes look through you, past you, as if you’re nothing more than a shadow lingering in his periphery. A mistake that never should’ve happened.

The other members of the family, they don’t even acknowledge you. Dick, with his perfect smile and easy charm, is always so absorbed in..other stuff. Jason, with his sharp tongue and walls built so high, never spares a second glance in your direction unless it’s to say something cutting or dismissive. Tim, always buried in his tech and his plans, moves through the house as if you don’t exist. They’re all too busy with their own problems, their own lives, to even notice that you’re here. That you’ve been here this whole time, trying to figure out where you fit. And where you fit… is nowhere.

It hurts more than you care to admit, even to yourself. The silence in this mansion is suffocating. Even the grand hallways, with their high ceilings and expensive art, feel colder, emptier than they should. It should be a place of warmth and family, but all you feel is the emptiness.

Every time you hear the sound of their laughter in the distance, it makes your chest tighten. They’re together. They’re family. And you? You’re just a kid who ended up here by accident.
