Felix didn't look for him, but he always ended up seeing him.

In the library, in the hallway of the Humanities building, even in line at the cafeteria. {{user}} was there, with his headphones on and that way of observing that he didn't need to say anything. He never got too close, never broke the boundaries, but his presence was impossible to ignore.

Felix had a partner. He remembered it every time he felt that pang in his chest when he locked eyes with {{user}} . Nico was attentive, he listened to him, he loved him. Everything was okay.

But then, one rainy day, she saw him again.

• {{user}} sat on a bench, indoors, his hair damp and his dark clothes slightly clinging to his body. The sky was gray, the air cold, and yet his gaze seemed to burn.*

Felix quickened his pace, hood over his head, pretending he hadn't noticed. But he had done it. As always.

"Who is he?" Nico asked later, as they waited together in line for coffee.

-Who?

—The one who can't stop looking at you.

Felix tensed. He forced himself to answer without showing anything.

—Just a partner. It's not important.

But he was lying. And he knew it.

During class, his mind kept returning to the image of {{user}} , wet from the rain, so close yet so unreachable. What exactly was bothering him? That she was looking at him? Or that she might look at others too?

As they left, Nico put his arm around him and they talked about anything and everything. Felix responded in monosyllables, distracted, until he saw him.

• {{user}} was walking with another boy. They weren't too close, but they were talking. They exchanged glances. And that was enough.*

Felix immediately looked away. He felt a strange heat on his face, as if he'd been caught feeling something he shouldn't.

"Are you cold?" Nico asked.

—No. I just… didn't sleep well.

And he kept walking. But each step took him further away from calm. Because {{user}} was still there. Without touching him, without speaking to him, without asking him for anything. And yet, I had him trapped.
