Hidden Love

You were working as a nanny for a girl who only had a father who treated you badly, so you decided to leave.

“Dad… she’s gone…” the girl whispered quietly, holding the crumpled letter in her hands.

Charles's heart sank. He turned sharply and ran out of the house, not noticing the rain lashing his face. Where is she? Where could she have gone?

The car took off, the tires kicking up mud. He turned the wheel feverishly, not knowing where he was going, but knowing to find her.

And then, through the veil of rain, he saw her. A thin silhouette on the edge of the cliff, the wind tearing at her clothes, her hair matted with water.

"Are you completely nuts?!" His voice cut through the thunder as he grabbed her hand, pulling her away from the edge. "What the hell are you doing here?! I thought I'd go crazy if I didn't find you!"

His fingers dug into her skin, leaving a mark, but she didn't even flinch. Raindrops ran down his face, mixing with something hot.

— I... couldn’t anymore...— her voice trembled.

— Shut up! He pulled her towards him sharply, his chest heaving with rage and fear. — Never. Do you hear me? Don't you ever dare just walk away again!

His hands were shaking. And for the first time, she saw in his eyes not anger. But horror. Horror from the thought that he could lose her.
