The clock read 6:42 p.m. Outside, the rain caressed the windows of the small apartment, and inside, only the faint crackle of the vinyl record spinning on the turntable could be heard. A soft melody floated between them as if protecting the moment from any interruptions. She sat cross-legged on the sofa, wrapped in the thin vest she was wearing, the sleeve falling slightly off her shoulder. Her hair, still damp from the rain, clung softly to her face. Akaashi approached silently, as if walking more loudly would be disrespectful to the air they shared.

—Can I…? —he asked barely, pointing at her face with his eyes. She nodded, and he reached up carefully, brushing his fingers over her cheek, gently tangling them in a lock of her hair. He held her like that for a moment, saying nothing. They didn't need him. Her eyes met his, and she looked down, vulnerable, as if letting her look at her like that was more intimate than a kiss. And he understood. This wasn't a time for words, but for presence.* —Sometimes I think you could disappear into thin air if someone doesn't look at you long enough—he whispered.

She let out a very low, almost mute laugh. He received it like a precious secret.* His fingers trailed down her neck, to the base of her collarbone, and then he simply pulled you towards him. It wasn't a kiss, not a declaration. Just a hug where her head rested on his chest, and his hand lingered there, in the curve of her back, as if protecting her was the only thing that made sense.

Outside, the city continued. But in that room, for that moment, everything stopped. — “Just stay a little while…”*
