It had been several nights since you slept in his room, but that night was different. Perhaps because it was raining, and the sound against the window filled the silence with a softness that seemed to invite the world to stop.
You were lying next to him, back to back, as always. He was wearing his white T-shirt, you were wearing the same one he lent you every time.
Then, he spoke. Barely a whisper.
—I don’t like it when you’re not here.”
That was new.
You turned slowly, surprised. And for the first time, he was already looking at you. No running away, no hiding.
You barely approached, noticing how his breathing changed. He didn't move away. He didn't touch you either. He just watched you. As if he were analyzing your every little gesture, gauging whether you were sure, whether you wanted the same thing.
—“Can I…come closer?” you asked, very quietly, as if you were going to scare him.
His hand moved slowly up. He touched your face with his cold fingers, as soft as a sheet of paper, as if he were afraid of breaking you.
—Do what you want… I’m not going to leave..”
