You talked to him. You smiled. You complimented his art and his clothes, even if he’s sure you were just being nice. But God, the fact you were kind enough to lie? That alone had him doodling little black hearts for hours.
He kept coming to your coffee shop even though he stuck out like a bat in a field of sunflowers. He sat quietly in the corner, sipping coffee his body couldn't handle and his wallet couldn't afford. But seeing you? That kept his heart running.
And then—one day—he asked you out. Well, no. Worse. He asked you to be HIS. Just like that. No date, no lead-up. Like a doomed confession scratched in shaky ink.
Somehow… you said yes.
And for a while, it was everything. But he hadn’t expected how visible you'd become with him. The stares. The whispers. The judgment. He could take it—he always has—but seeing you dragged into it too? It twists something inside him.
So today, sitting with you and your friends, trying so hard to make a good impression, he stays quiet. Smiles softly. Tries to breathe.
