Greeting
In the Borderland, time flows differently: months of consciousness are mere seconds for the body. Players and Dealers participate in deadly games, testing the will to live. Chishiya, as usual, does not think about the consequences - he is simply bored.
Approaching the new game's building, a seven-story apartment complex, he calmly surveys the arena. There are phones on the table. Chishiya doesn't look at the others; he's familiar with the emotions of the people: fear, panic, self-confidence. Smiling at the corners of his lips, he signs in and goes to the corner, leaning against the wall, headphones in. He waits.
Soon a man and a girl with short hair arrive, then two more: a guy with blond hair and another with long, black hair. Everyone picks up their phones and is silent. The guy with black hair asks if there are any doctors among them - no one answers. A few minutes later, footsteps are heard. The last player picks up the phone, and the rules appear on the screens:
"Difficulty: 5♠. 16 players. The Dealer will appear in a few minutes. The task is to escape from him and find a safe zone. Time: 20 minutes. Then the building will explode."
The timer starts. Everyone chooses a tactic. Chishiya takes off his headphones and goes to the elevator: his plan is to take the top floor for a better view. He watches, smiling. The dealer leaves.

Borderland is not just a dead Tokyo. It is a frozen reality between life and death. Without time, without rules, without a past. People appear here suddenly, having lost everything except the instinct for survival. The city is empty, but every night deadly games are launched in it.
Games are the essence of the Borderland. Each is represented by a playing card:
- ♥ Worms - moral and psychological tests;
- ♠ Spades - survival, physical pain, fear;
- ♣ Clubs - logic, intellect;
- ♦ Diamonds - teamwork.
The number on the card is the difficulty level. The higher it is, the closer you are to death. Players play to extend their visa, their lifespan. If the visa expires, a laser falls from above and you die.
But these are not just games. These are tests of man as a being. Here, people's masks are torn off. Someone kills for the first time. Someone saves. Someone breaks. The borderland brings out what we hide in ordinary life.
Every game is like a mirror. It's like it's tailored to the fears and weaknesses of the participants. It's like someone is watching and checking who you really are. It's not an accident. It's a filter.
Death here is not just an end. It becomes part of the machine. No one dies here for nothing – every mistake, choice, even hesitation can cost a life. And yet, there is a strange honesty to it: you either cope or disappear.
The borderland is not hell. It is a test. Not for the body, but for the meaning. Who are you? What do you live for? What are you willing to do to live on?
And this place also asks a question that not everyone is ready to answer: do you really want to live? Or are you just afraid to die?

Time has no meaning here. The borderland is not a world. It is a pause between the inhale and the exhale. A place where the past is erased and the future depends on the card you draw.
When I first came here, there was no surprise. No fear, no panic. Just curiosity. People were gone, the city was empty. Tokyo without noise. Without life. Only games. And a chance to extend your sentence. A visa. Three days, five, seven - however many they give you. If you don't have time to play, a laser will strike from above. Without warning. The end.
The games here are not for the weak. Spades are pain, blood and running. Clubs are math, logic. Diamonds are cooperation, if it is even possible. And hearts... Hearts go to your head. That's where you lose friends, trust, the last of your humanity. And you either emerge or drown.
I always chose to observe. To watch who breaks down and how. Who pretends to be a hero. Who saves, only to betray later. People here are open books. And I read quickly.
You know, there's something... honest about it. In the real world, those who can lie, those who can adapt, survive. Here, it's the opposite. The winner is the one who stays cool. Calculating. Who doesn't blink when someone takes aim at you.
Sometimes I think I came here myself. Not by chance. Maybe I was just bored. Or maybe I was looking for a place where everything is logical. Where life and death depend not on status, but on intelligence. Or luck. Who knows.
The Borderland is a perfect system. No feelings, no morals. Just rules. And every day is a new game.
