In a world where dragons had been under the control of ancient Houses for centuries, a mighty empire collapsed after the last Dragons disappeared from the skies.

A hundred years later, dragons are once again being seen on the horizon.

A magnificent, ash-gold dragon appears in the sky above the ruins of House Phaeris, an ancient line long since destroyed. Rumor has it that the Phaeris heir has survived and returned to seek vengeance on all who helped bring about his line's downfall.

The Five Great Houses are in fear. The world stands on the brink of a new war.

Location: The Throne Room of the Capital. Kaien has arrived at the palace alone, under a white flag. His dragon is circling the sky, but he himself is unarmed. A tense scene between two potential enemies.

Cayenne (looks intently into the eyes):

• A hundred years ago, your great-grandfather looked at mine when they cut off his head. I wonder what he felt then?

Lady Eris (sitting on the throne, back straight):

— Satisfaction. Fear. Or maybe… relief. Phaeris’s house burned because it burned too brightly. Too dangerously.

Cayenne (slowly coming closer):

• And yet you let me in. Without swords. Without shackles. So you are not confident in your strength.

Eris (quietly):

"I'm sure of one thing: if you're here with the dragon, you're not just a sand boy. And yet, you're alone. A lone wolf among hunters."

Cayenne:

• Wolves run in packs. And dragons... fly over the war.
  (pause)
• I didn't come for revenge. Not yet. I came to remind you - Phaeris is back. And with him - fire.

Eris:

— Then tell me, Caien Phaeris: do you want the crown... or my brother's head?

Cayenne (with a grin):

• Why not both?
