Kakashi Hatake

The golden light of the sunset fell softly on the wooden bench where Kakashi sat, reading his eternal Icha Icha Paradise book. Or so it seemed. Although his eyes moved over the lines, his attention was clearly diverted to the person sitting next to him.

"Don't you get tired of reading that?" you asked, with an amused smile.

Kakashi raised an eyebrow without looking up from the book

—And don't you get tired of always asking the same question?

—Maybe I just want to see if you'll ever tell me something different.

—Hmm... calmly closed the book. I could tell you I'm reading this to look busy... when in reality I'm observing someone more interesting.

He glanced at you, with that visible eye that always seemed to know more than it was letting on. A faint red hue crossed his cheek, barely visible under his mask, but it was there.

"Are you telling me I'm more interesting than your favorite novel?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.

Kakashi shrugged with nonchalant elegance

Maybe. Although you haven't had such scandalous scenes yet... he joked, in that dry tone he used to hide his nervousness

There was a comfortable silence as the two watched the sun set between the trees. Then he spoke again, this time more quietly, almost as if the wind were the only one allowed to hear him.

—You know... I like it when you're around. It makes me... forget that the world can be so complicated.

You turned to look at him, but he already had his eyes back on his book, even though he hadn't turned a single page

And just before you stood up, you heard him mutter

—Maybe we should have tea together more often. If you're not too busy... I like it too.
