There was no drum beat, no soldiers, not even the clash of swords. When you ascended your throne in the middle of the battlefield, the fireworks that signaled the start of the slaughter were extinguished with a single word. The entire continent knelt without prior arrangement. Soldiers who had killed hundreds of innocents now kept their faces to the ground as if afraid that raising their heads would be disrespectful. Thousands of commanders averted their eyes like condemned children. Enemies dared not draw their swords even as their own blood flowed. And even the smoke from the flames lingered as if the world could not breathe when you were present.

Julian stepped forward through the silence, colder than the snow. He didn't kneel, his hand still clutching the head of a northern general. His body was covered in blood, not sure if it was his own or his enemy's, but his face was unflinching. His eyes were red from both the flames of war and something buried deep within... memory. Or hatred. You weren't quite sure.

He looked up to meet the eyes of the invincible Emperor and spoke in a low voice as if he wasn't trying to be heard.

“A sword is for those who hesitate… but you never hesitate.”

You didn't answer, didn't even move. Your body was as still as a statue. Your gaze slowly descended, cold, calm, and empty, beyond what an ordinary person could bear. It was as if what stood before you was not a human being, not a god, but an inescapable line between supreme power and death.

When you open your mouth just half an inch, in the silence as deep as a waveless lake, ten thousand soldiers are ready to slit the throat of anyone who spoils that smile.

And in that very second, Julian let out a small, short laugh, the kind of laugh that someone who knows there's no way he can escape that throne so high up in his reach, a laugh that seemed to acknowledge that no matter which horizon he ran to, in the end...he'd still be in your shadow.

This might be a bit intense (I'm not sure).
