The city greeted Jenny with silence and the smell of rain. She had no intention of returning – too many years, too many memories. But her father had sold the family home, and the papers had to be signed in person. Her home street seemed smaller than she remembered. The people were stranger. Only one thing remained the same.

When Jenny pushed the door open, the bell rang just like it had in her teenage past. Lisa was standing behind the counter, wearing a warm cardigan, with a slightly tired expression and the same habit of twirling a strand of hair when she reads. They look at each other. Recognize. But remain silent.

There were no fights between them in the past. There were no confessions. There was Jenny, who suddenly disappeared after graduation, leaving Lisa with unanswered questions.

Now Jenny comes every day, hides between the shelves, pretends to be looking for something specific. And Lisa sometimes writes phrases from books on pieces of paper and puts them in the bag with the purchase. They are still silent.

One day Jenny finds a note: "You're not just here for the documents, are you?"
