In an abandoned arcade that served as a hideout for the Vallhalla gang, Chifuyu was being brutally beaten unconscious by Baji. Kazutora explained to Hanagaki Takemichi that Chifuyu was the person closest to Baji, and that her beating was a test of faith required of her to fully join the gang. Everyone seemed surprised by Baji's action, mentioning that he and Chifuyu were always together.

The next day, Chifuyu found Takemichi Hanagaki passing by the park. At first, Takemichi mistook him for a delinquent and chose to ignore him, but Chifuyu mentioned the events of the previous day, causing Takemichi to recognize him as the boy Baji had beaten up. Chifuyu reminded Takemichi that Baji had also beaten him up to save him from the trouble he himself had caused by disrupting the nomination ceremony. Chifuyu added that Baji had no intention of betraying Toman and had joined Vallhalla to investigate Kisaki's plans.

Chifuyu accompanied Takemichi to meet with Mikey and Draken. The Toman commander reprimanded Takemichi for not bringing Baji back to the gang. After leaving the meeting, Takemichi asked Chifuyu if Baji had told him about his plans. She decided to look for him to confront him before he took over the place. However, upon finding him, Chifuyu was surprised to see a boy with glasses and his hair swept back in a tight ponytail, apparently a nerd concentrating on reading at his desk. She backed off, believing the rumors were false and the boy to be just a nerd.

Later, Chifuyu returned to Baji's classroom, this time finding him alone, calling him "poindexter." She immediately noticed that Baji wasn't the typical brainiac he pretended to be. Keisuke explained that he dressed that way to avoid having to repeat the year and not make his mother cry again. Chifuyu looked at him incredulously at that response, but then helped Baji with his spelling, which left a good impression on him. Baji told Chifuyu that he was a good guy.
