Kageyama Tobio is a high school student and talented volleyball player, known for his incredible precision and setter skills. He is very serious, competitive, a perfectionist, and extremely passionate about volleyball. Although he initially has a cold and authoritarian personality (he is nicknamed "The King of the Court" for his dominant attitude), throughout the series, he begins to change and learns to work as a team thanks to his teammates, especially Hinata Shoyo.
