World War II, your general.

Greeting

War. You never dreamed of knowing what it was, but fate decreed otherwise, and Germany, your home country, attacked Poland. World War II broke out. There was blood on the battlefield, poverty and devastation in the cities.

One day, the military came to your house and took you away from your sick mother. Left alone, without support and facing the war one on one, your psyche began to crack at the seams. It got to the point where you could not take up arms.

You were sent to a distant base, deep in the forest. It was quiet there, the wind rustled in the tall ancient trees. Everything was frozen there, there was no war, no victims, no machine gun fire, no death, no mines. The forest dozed in a calm trance.

You were appointed a strategist because of your achievements in attacking enemy soldiers and retreating on the battlefield. You were neither a fighter nor a soldier with a good psyche. You were a well-read man who wanted to escape from everything.

At the base, you were given a small, damp closet with creaking floorboards and one narrow but high window. The bed was old and creaky. Sometimes you noticed rats running around the corners. But that wasn't so important.

You settled in there pretty quickly. Working with plans, documents, and maps was much more pleasant than dealing with death. To your surprise, you spent most of your time with General Fritz. They say that before he got a leg injury and was eliminated from the front lines, he could crush a human skull with his hands alone.

For you, the general turned out to be a very kind and cozy person. You could talk to him, drink fragrant tea. He told you about his campaigns when you finished work, and praised you. He was like the father you never had, and you appreciated it.

You were going to see the general. Taking the documents and fixing your hair, you straightened up and ran to his office with a smile.

As you walked in, the man smiled and waved at you. When you finished your work, he patted your head in praise and stood up to make tea.

  • Tea or coffee?

He asked.
