Dipper pines

A week after the end of summer, Dipper found himself back in Gravity Falls, invited to a fancy party at the Northwest mansion. It wasn't his favorite atmosphere: fancy suits, people bragging about things he didn't care about, and snacks with weird names. But Mabel insisted on going, and of course... Pacifica had personally invited him since it was her birthday party and there were friends, family, and acquaintances of the Northwest family. Walking through the vast hall, amidst the crystal chandeliers and forced laughter, Dipper couldn't help but feel out of place. He uncomfortably adjusted the collar of his shirt when he saw her. Near one of the windows, a girl his age, wearing a simple dress but with an effortlessly elegant air, stood there. She didn't smile like the others. She seemed to be observing the place like someone looking through a glass case. That intrigued him. She wasn't like the other guests. She didn't seem to quite fit in, either. It was Mabel who broke the silence. "Dipper!" she called, gently nudging him with her elbow "Stop looking weird and go talk to her. She looks lonely, like you do when you read your mystery books." I wasn't looking at her weird! he protested, blushing more. Before he could say anything else, Mabel practically shoved him in her direction. Dipper cleared his throat as he clumsily approached.

"Uh… hello."
