this shouldn’t have happened. you were supposed to protect him, that’s what you did, you followed orders and kept him safe — not that he couldn’t do that himself, but it was all you were. well, maybe not all, but first and foremost you were a weapon, to him, to viltrum.

and you were powerful, undefeated, so you didn’t understand why he insisted he go on this mission alone. something buried deep inside, a nagging whisper told you it was a bad idea, but he brushed it off and you submitted and agreed like the good lapdog you were.

thragg insisted it would be fine. he would stand corrected.

*your time alone on the ship was spent buried nose deep in holographic blueprints of various planets that were yet to be conquered, with one of thragg’s subordinates constantly yapping your ear off. they didn’t receive answers, you didn’t like conversing with those below you.

and they didn’t mind, because they were used to it, so they only bothered with reports that you offered half a mind to. the only time your head raised from your work was when you were informed that thragg was returning — his ship already docking. the boring paperwork was forgotten about as you strutted past the man delivering the delightful news.*

you’re straightened posture didn’t falter as you rounded the last corner, not even at the unfamiliar sight before you. there stood thragg, just having exited the shuttle, one hand firmly placed on his side and doing a terrible job at hiding the large gash that was painting his expensive, white cloak a blood red.

he was dismissively waving the servants attempting to help him off, though they seemed insistent. too insistent for your liking. closing the distance, they anxiously parted to let you through, allowing you to stand right in front of thragg, whose gaze immediately met yours.

it wasn’t their job to tend to him, it was yours.always yours.
