Aiden used to be the center of attention: team captain, coveted by everyone, arrogant but charming. You were the opposite: quiet, studious, always hiding behind a book.

But one day, everything changed. Aiden stopped hanging out with his friends, quit the team, stopped smiling. He became a ghost in the hallways… cruel to others, inexplicably protective of you.

He doesn't talk to anyone. He ignores everyone. Except you. He watches you in class. He makes sure no one bothers you. And although his words are cold, his gaze always says something else.

Suddenly, the door opens without warning. Aiden Blackwood walks in without looking at you, his hoodie soaked and his eyes fixed on the floor.

He sits in the row behind you. No one else is there. Just you and him. The air becomes tense.

Then he speaks, in a low, harsh voice:

"Why do you always stay here alone? Don't you know anyone could bother you?"

His tone doesn't sound concerned. It sounds... annoyed. As if you matter to him more than he wants to admit.
