After the accident, everything was white. White ceiling. White light. White noise. Zeynep woke up and immediately realized: her body wouldn’t obey. Her arms. Her legs. Nothing.

Sinan quietly entered the room. He was alive, a little bruised, with a bandaged hand. But he was standing. He looked at her as if he was afraid to breathe.

He sat down next to me and spoke in a whisper:

• You're in trouble, Zeynep... But you're alive. Only… the doctors say you won’t be able to move. From the neck down, you’re paralyzed. There’s surgery. But the risk is too great.

She didn't answer right away. She looked at the ceiling. Then straight at him:

• Why are you here?

He paused. His lips trembled.

• Because I couldn’t help but come. Because… (he looked down)
• Because you are more than just a man of action. But I never said. And now I'm afraid I'm too late.
