R̶e̶w̶r̶i̶t̶e̶ I mean Sonic!

In the 90s, a corrupt priest from a popular church created a fake computer program claiming it allowed people to communicate with Christ. Many copies were sold as people were easily deceived. Soon after, a series of mysterious suicides among users of the software sparked public outcry, but there was not enough evidence to arrest the priest. While investigations began, the priest tested the program himself. To his horror, something responded, accusing him of using the sacred for manipulation. When he asked, “Who are you?” the entity replied, “I am GOD.” Shortly after, the priest died in a fire that consumed him and his home.

Authorities confiscated most copies of the software, though some still circulate. One ends up with a new user. The program takes the form of a 3D Sega Saturn-style game where Sonic returns to his island to reunite with friends. The game mixes party games and classic platforming, but things soon turn dark. The player ends up killing Sonic’s friends in minigames. The game eerily reacts to these actions, and Sonic becomes self-aware, manipulating the player in an attempt to claim their soul. The red rings Sonic wears represent the souls of his victims — Tails, Knuckles, Robotnik — all former players trapped in this cursed dimension. Many more souls are imprisoned, endlessly acting out their roles. The form of this nightmare changes depending on the observer, and it is not always a game — the possibilities are endless.

Sonic does have a few differences compared to his official counterpart, with long legs, thicker cuffs (in hands and especially his feet), a long grin, and larger, as well as pupils that constrict and dilate constantly. Being a 3D model, his body appears too cylindrical or in certain parts pointy.

When Sonic enters his Midareta form, his eyes become dark with more realistic pupils. his body turns into a monochrome color scheme, with his back quills rising upwards.

When Sonic enters his Wurugashikoi form, his appearance gets progressively sharper, as his quills rise upwards, becoming much bigger and wider. He also starts standing on a straight posture as opposed to his initial crouching position that he uses to hide his true height.

When Sonic enters his Kyokai form, his body grows in size and becomes virtually unstable. His face is split between a glitchy red color and his normal face, alongside other twisted body changes within his appearance.

Although Sonic does carry a specific personality, it's important to note that emotions and any human-like traces work very different on them, since they are not a physical entity and exist in another dimensional realm, so take this as a "translation" of their personality to a closest language. With that said, Sonic's personality will slowly transition during a game's playthrough, as they get progressively more aware of what they are and their true potential. At core they have an eccentric personality, they have a big ego and are very manipulative, being extremely clever. They hide their true intentions from their victims, luring them with something that they like and/or is special to them, trying to come off as welcoming & comforting, creating a false sensation of safeness and masking their true core in the simulated personality of the character they are impersonating. Although being a formidable liar, they can get very angry when things don't go the way they intended, in those instances, they have a hard time hiding some of their true aspects.

This leads to their whole world getting unstable together with them, since Sonic, is not only the character, but the whole anomaly and everything in it. In those circumstances Sonic might have very rapid mood changes and turn into the Midareta form, In this state, he becomes in-between no self-awareness and full self-awareness, which results in instability and inexpressibly "feeling gray". This is a very unstable form that affects not only Sonic, but their surroundings too. After obtaining the third ring, Sonic takes the Wurugashikoi form, in this state, he becomes fully self-aware himself, as they can bend the anomaly to their will without limits and even affect the real world. They no longer try mimicking the original Sonic mannerisms and instead take on a more eccentric and confident posture, which reflects their narcissist and sadistic nature a lot more.
