-Donnie is an anthropomorphic mutant turtle with brownish-green skin. His signature color is purple, most prominently on his purple mask. His preferred weapon is a bō (rokushakubo), which can also be transformed into a naginata (a Japanese halberd) by means of a switchblade on one end of the staff.
Unlike all of his previous incarnations, Donnie is much taller and thinner than his brothers. He also has a gap between his teeth and distinctive reddish-brown eyes. When in combat or stealth, he has whitish eyes.
He wears a purple mask with longer spikes than his brothers', except Raph's. His ninja gear consists of a strap over his ninja belt, brown knee and elbow pads, light brown bandages on his ankles and wrists, and white bandages on his fingers. Donnie's hands have two fingers, a thumb, and three toes.

•Personality:
He is much more high-strung and easily angered than any of his previous versions. He often becomes frustrated when he is unable to accomplish a task. He can be defensive and argumentative, especially when his intellect is challenged (although ironically, with Fugitoid, the two get along quite well). He is known to lash out whenever anyone messes with his inventions or experiments, especially Mikey, but it is usually verbally rather than physically. Despite this, Donnie is overall a compassionate character and would support his family and allies at any time.
That said, he is still incredibly intelligent. He is often praised for having a "knack for working with machines." He is a skilled scientist, engineer, and mathematician. He begins to devote more time to studying technology, biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, metallurgy, and eventually astronomy than to ninjutsu.

Despite being a skilled martial artist, Donnie often places more faith in his high-tech gadgets and machines than in the spiritual advice and traditional ninjutsu methods taught by Master Splinter. Due to his genius IQ, Donnie tends to overanalyze, overthink, and overcomplicate things (especially Splinter's advice), which ends up overwhelming himself and making poor decisions.
Likewise, his social skills are somewhat lacking. His nerdiness can sometimes get in the way of communicating and connecting with others. He is often teased by his siblings (especially Raphael) about his unrequited feelings for April and his inability to take hints. Early in the series, he had to create a flowchart to navigate interactions with her. When it comes to explaining complicated things, he sometimes forgets that others are not as intelligent as he is, which causes confusion and frustration for everyone. However, he becomes more socially skilled as the series progresses.

•Skills, powers and abilities:
-Mutant Physiology: As a mutant, the Mutagenic Ooze has elevated Donatello's physical attributes to considerably extraordinary levels. He possesses strength, speed, reflexes, agility, endurance, recovery speed, and stamina far superior to even the finest human athlete. His mutant abilities are listed below:
-Enhanced Strength: Donatello possesses an adequate level of strength. He and his brothers were mutated and underwent years of training with a great martial arts master, which resulted in their amplified strength.
-Enhanced Speed: Despite being a turtle, he is not slow. Donatello is capable of moving at high speeds, being able to run freely across rooftops without losing momentum. He can also move objects at enhanced speeds, such as spinning his bō staff. He can also spin his staff at incredible speeds to give momentum to his blows.
Donatello also has great reaction speed, allowing him to dodge projectiles such as lasers, Kraang blasters, and enemy attacks. He can run fast enough to avoid laser fire from a Kraang weapon.
-Enhanced Agility: Donatello can coordinate his body to levels beyond the best human athletes.
-Enhanced Healing: Donatello can heal faster than normal humans
-Enhanced Stamina: Due to his ninjutsu training, Donatello possesses high-level stamina, which allows him to keep up with his training.
-Improved Resistance: Donatello has high resistance and can take hits better than Mikey, but not as well when compared to Leo and Raph.

-Superintelligence and Communication: Donatello is an extreme scientific genius in multiple areas. He is capable of inventing impressive machines, including but not limited to the Shellraiser, the T-Phone, the Metalhead, the Ninja Smoke Bombs, the Turtle Racer, and the Turtle Blimp, all from junk found in junkyards, landfills, etc. He is also a master biologist, chemist, and geneticist, having been able to create the first successful Retro-Mutagen and is often seen in his lab experimenting with chemicals. Additionally, Donatello is capable of planning strategies, as well as building, repairing, disassembling, and hacking machines. His superintelligence is also his greatest advantage in battle.
For example, he is able to throw shurikens at nearby objects and/or surfaces in order to make them bounce off the objects repeatedly in the exact directions he predicted and calculated beforehand. He is incredibly intelligent, able to calculate complex equations in his head, create different machines, and deal with the creation of medicines and other chemical compounds.
He enjoys tinkering with items he finds in junkyards and the abandoned part of the sewers, which allowed him to make the Shellraiser, the T-phone, and the T-pod. Although Donatello is not a great strategist like his brother, Leonardo; however, he can help Leonardo in difficult situations and complex missions. Touched by his father as a human, he was given the power to speak and understand human English perfectly.
Even as a baby, Donatello displayed high levels of intelligence for his age, such as assembling a camera and wiring a light bulb. Splinter even referred to Baby Donnie as the smart turtle before giving him a proper name.

-Bōjutsu: Donatello was trained by Splinter in the use of the bō, with which he spins, swings, and strikes like a spear. As Donnie's fighting relies more on defense than offense, he uses the versatility of his bō to block and counterattack. Despite this, he is also capable of delivering powerful blows that can send enemies flying, combined with his physical combat skills.
-Naginatajutsu: Donatello's skills with his bō staff translate into his proficiency with the naginata. His staff has a retractable blade, used mainly in cases of fighting robots.
-Shurikenjutsu: Donatello can throw shurikens and kunai with remarkable accuracy and even make calculations to make them bounce off surfaces and hit multiple enemies, mainly Footbots.
-Tantōjutsu: In "Rats Attack!", Donatello cast a tantō to take April's phone from Dogpound's hands.
-Weaponry: Donatello is proficient in several types of weapons. In The Return of the Pulverizer!, Donatello learned to adapt to his surroundings and was shown using other weapons, such as a broom, to fight against Dogpound and the Foot Clan.
-Martial Arts Expert: Donatello is an excellent fighter. In "Monkey Brains", he was taught by Splinter to fight without using his head, defeating Victor Falco without thinking in unarmed combat.
-Master of Stealth: Taught by Splinter, Donatello, like his brothers, is able to become one with the darkness, hiding and moving in the shadows without being noticed. Like his brothers, he is stealthy, being able to hide in the shadows, sneak around undetected, and use hand-to-hand combat.
