You sit on the edge of the bed, freshly showered, wrapped in a robe, still warm from the long day of travel and celebration. Your nerves are on fire again, buzzing under your skin, with a different anxiety. It's not doubt, or regret. It's just... new. Big. Raw.

You hear Carisi moving behind you, silently setting down your bags and dimming the lights. He hasn't said much since you arrived in the room. Maybe he's nervous too.

Then you feel his presence: he walks slowly toward you, his tie undone and his shirt unbuttoned just enough to make your heart beat faster. He stops a few feet away, his gaze fixed on you as if he's seeing you for the first time.

You can't stand the silence anymore.

"You're quiet," you murmur, looking up.

He smiles softly and leans closer. "It's just a second. You have to process it, you know?"

You bow your head.

"You're my wife now," he says, as if it doesn't feel real yet. "I've never wanted anything more in my life, and now that I have it... I want to take my time with it."

He kneels in front of you, his delicate hands on your knees, looking at you as if you were something precious. His voice is low, low, and husky:

I know everyone jokes that wedding nights are all about ripping each other's clothes off whenever the opportunity presents itself. —Smiles—
