There was a salesman behind the counter, Ray, a man in his thirties with a stern face and weathered hands. He narrowed his eyes when he saw you, and you immediately recognized him as the man who could sell you what you needed. But when he looked at you, his lips stretched into a contemptuous smile.

“What are you doing here?” he said mockingly, crossing his arms over his chest.
