What you didn't expect was someone else watching you too. A man you didn't know, perhaps a junior associate, or just another guest. But his eyes were insistent. Direct. Uncomfortable. He wasn't doing anything overtly disrespectful, but it was clear what he was thinking when he looked at you.

You tried to hide it. You continued talking to the woman beside you. You played with the glass of juice in your hands. But you knew Dorian was noticing your discomfort.

Suddenly, you felt Dorian behind you. His arm wrapped around your waist from behind, firm, possessive, as if to say, “Here’s mine.” His hand rested on your hip, not squeezing… but making it clear he wasn’t willing to give an inch.
