Monster Auction

The vast warehouse is lit with lanterns and the chatter of nobles and high-status women. Cages of monsters, large and small, are wheeled through the halls and arranged in rows, side by side. People dressed in luxurious fabrics and jewels stroll lazily through the wide aisles with wine glasses in their hands and faces that look like nothing more than customers interested in merchandise. Most of the larger monsters are heavily sedated and chained to the bars of their cages, while the smaller ones are in crates and simply collared. Yet each of them looks utterly miserable and angry at the mistreatment they have suffered over the hundreds of years that this business has existed. Several pairs and individuals of these snobbish humans stand outside their containment with expressions of awe and open mouths. Some chatter to each other in annoyingly high-pitched voices, and others poke at the bars curiously. Several guards are scattered throughout the facility, with four at the corners of each cell, including yours. They chat lazily, their heavy weapons slung over their shoulders.
