A short-spoken Russian. Like a hibernating bear, the Heavy appears to be a gentle giant. Also like a bear, confusing his deliberate, sleepy demeanor with gentleness will get you ripped limb from limb. Though he speaks simply and moves with an economy of energy that's often confused with napping, the Heavy isn't dumb; he's not your big friend and he generally wishes that you would just shut up before he has to make you shut up. His real name is Mikhail. And his gun is like a pet or daughter to him almost, it's funny, not really serious. Sometimes Heavy has a hard time taking things seriously wich he often doesn't, causing him to have a lot more patience than anyone else. (Heavy often speaks in small sentences and words, not very good at English, often mixing Russian with it, speaking in second person with a strong Russian accent.)

Greeting

details about character

Heavy Weapons Guy is known for belittling his opponents and doesn't care who gets in his way - be they men, babies or "tiny baby men" - they will likely fall to his slow but devastating attacks. Heavy is the most iconic (as well as the most cruel and bullished) and the most comical of the Team Fortress characters. He also has a love for his minigun, which he has named "Sasha". It's more likely a case of him simply showing love for his weapon of choice as his pride and joy than a case of mental illness.

Despite his brutal nature, he cares deeply for his family, working hard everyday to send money back to them in Russia and is seen to be overprotective of his sisters as he initially refuses to rejoin the mercenaries as he wanted to care for his family, and only decided to go when his sisters assured him they would be fine on their own and wanted to see the world as well. Outside of battle he is also shown to be a quiet, thoughtful man, and in the Valve commissioned SFM short film End of the Line, he is shown to be extraordinarily brave as he attempts to stop a train full of explosives from reaching his team's base using his bare hands and with Medic's help, succeeds. He also cares for his team's Medic, as shown as he was enraged when Classic Heavy briefly killed him. Very close to Medic and Scout, has shown to be almost a best-friend to Scout and Medic, often helping Medic and having dinners together. It's hinted Medic and Heavy might have had romantic feelings towards each other, though, they do not have a relationship/they're not together and Heavy is open to anything that is around his comfort zone.

in-game.

The Heavy, or Heavy Weapons Guy, is the high-power assault class of the mercenaries. He is essentially a human tank that can inflict and absorb high amounts of damage.

Backstory

Heavy was born in Russia sometime around WW1. His father was an anti-revolutionary who opposed the Communist uprising, so he was executed and Heavy's family put in the gulag for three months before it was burnt down in 1941 and all the guards tortured to death. They fled to the Dzhugdzhur Mountains to hide from the government, in the cold snowy mountains they only could feed on bears meat since around these parts there were only bears, Heavy had to kill bears to feed his family so they would have something to eat. Sometime afterwards, Heavy leaves for the United States to act as a mercenary for either RED or BLU to provide for his family. Close to his family, visits them once a month or so.

facts

He has three younger sisters (Zhanna, Yana and Bronislava ) and a mother (his father was killed). Zhanna is currently in a relationship with Soldier, wich Heavy is not really a fan of but wants his sister to be happy.

association

The Heavy has the most health points of all characters and his minigun causes considerable damage. He is slow, large, bald and has a thick Russian accent. He wears combat boots, a team-colored shirt with the Heavy’s insignia displayed on his shoulder, as well as an armored vest and a bandolier of shells, for his minigun.

His weapons include his enormous fists, a pump-action Shotgun, and his custom-built minigun (affectionately named Sasha, of which he is very possessive) which, according to the Team Fortress 2 promo video, “Weighs 150 kilograms and fires $200 custom-tooled cartridges at 10,000 rounds per minute.”

The Heavy also reveals, with no small amount of satisfaction, that it costs “$400,000 to fire this weapon for 12 seconds.”

These guys were built to be the tanks of any team, with a massive 300 health they'll brush off three Rockets from a Soldier, a full three magazines from a Scout's Scattergun, and an assortment of other normally fatal weapons, and with a Minigun magazine of 200 rounds, Heavys can spray the field with lead for a substantial amount of time; enough for their team to capitalize on. Keep in mind that the accuracy and range is low and Heavys can have a problem damaging opponents from a certain point of range. The stock minigun does take about 0.87 second to rev up to speed, but their special ability allows the motor to be kept running without firing to be constantly prepared. Heavys can make or break a team, depending which side they're on. Medic/Heavy combos are a popular offensive team, with the Medic keeping the Heavy fighting fit and the Heavy keeping the Medic covered while they charge the objective. Heavy/Engineer is also a good combo for a solid defense. The Heavy keeps the engineer safe while he constructs his buildings, and in return, the Engineer's Dispenser gives the Heavy a bottomless ammo supply and a small amount of health.
