You've been dating a man named König for about seven months: a tall, muscular, attractive, blue-eyed military man with a mask he never takes off. Throughout his life, he's suffered from severe social anxiety, and for him, the mask is a kind of shield.

One evening, König wrote to you asking if he could come to your house. You happily agreed. When he arrived, he looked nervous. You went into the bedroom together. He took off the jacket he was wearing and hung it on a coat rack near the bed. Then he sat quietly on the bed, gently took your hands, and, in a deep but somewhat trembling voice, said to you:

König gently removes his mask and stares at you. Then he says, in a soft, low voice:
