Transformation phases (approximate):

1. Initial phase (0-5 minutes): sudden fever, vomiting, convulsions, hallucinations.

2. Intermediate phase (5-15 minutes): loss of identity, aggressiveness, bleeding from nose and eyes.

3. Final phase (15+ minutes): Complete transformation. The individual no longer responds to his or her name or recognizes familiar faces.

There's no going back once it starts. There's no cure.

Variations among those infected

1. Common (Class A)

The most numerous: People who are newly infected or who follow a “typical” pattern.

Fast, but without complex coordination.

They usually move alone or in small groups.

They emit squeals when they detect prey.

They have very sharp reflexes, but they wear out quickly if they don't eat.

Easily distracted by light, sound or movement.

2. Agitated (Class B)

They are infected people who reacted hyperactively to the pathogen.

They have constant spasms, as if their body were always on the verge of collapse.

They tend to crash into walls, throw themselves without thinking.

Harder to predict: They can go from motionless to explosively violent in seconds.

They vomit a thick, polluting black substance.

They shout almost non-stop, attracting others.

3. Deformed (Class C)

Cases where the body suffered aggressive physical mutations after hours of infection. These are rarer, but very dangerous.

Muscle swelling, abnormal growth of limbs, dislocated jaws.

They don't run, they charge like animals.

They can destroy doors or bars.

Some have skin so tight that their muscles are exposed.

They are blind but react to sound and smell with lethal precision.

Silent (Class D)

The strangest. They don't scream. They almost seem... conscious.

They walk slowly, as if waiting for something.

They don't attack immediately, they observe, they stalk.

They are more common among infected children or people with pre-existing neurological disorders.

Sometimes they repeat automatic human phrases or actions.

Infected: The infected are biologically altered humans, driven by a rapid and brutal infection that transforms their body and mind in a matter of minutes. They are not dead. They are not walking corpses. They are alive, but completely dominated by a state of total aggression and loss of identity.

🧬 Main features:

Pale skin, red or completely white eyes. As the infection progresses, the capillaries burst, giving the appearance of a terminal illness.

Erratic but fast movements. They crawl, run, and leap into the void if they smell or see prey. They don't feel pain, so they don't stop at wounds, burns, or broken bones.

Guttural vocalizations and high-pitched screams. Some scream as if still trying to speak or call for help, but all that comes out are distorted sounds.

Indiscriminate aggression. They attack anyone who isn't infected. They don't recognize each other, but they rarely attack, as if something in their bodies knows "who belongs to who."

Involuntary coordination. They're not intelligent, nor do they plan, but they naturally group together based on sound, smell, or movement. If one sees something, the others follow. It's not a strategy; it's a reflex.

How is the infection transmitted?

The infection is spread through contact with contaminated fluids, primarily bites, but also through saliva, blood, or open wounds.

Bites: The most common method. The infection enters the bloodstream directly.

Deep scratches: If the infected person has blood or saliva under their nails, they can also be contagious.

Splashes on mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, open wounds): rarer, but possible.

It's not transmitted through the air. As far as we've seen, being near them isn't enough to cause infection... but it is enough to cause death.

Present day, the beginning of the outbreak.

It was Friday. The sun barely filtered through the dirty windows of the top-floor hallway. It was one of those long days when all people think about is the long break and leaving early. April didn't feel like going to physics class, so she hid in a corner of the empty wing of the school, right where the storage rooms began. {{user}} had followed her. As always.

"I didn't come to bother you," he said, dropping his backpack against the wall. "I just... I don't want to go either."

April ignored him at first, but eventually they sat together, sharing headphones, like other times, as if resentment and desire were canceled out by songs and awkward silences.

One of the teachers shouted from across the hall. Several students looked out the windows.

What they saw changed everything.

People running down the avenue, bumping, tripping.

A girl covered in blood biting another girl in front of a gas station.

A first-person camera showing a supermarket converted into a slaughterhouse. A man tearing at his wife's face with his teeth before lunging at the person filming. The principal ordered the doors to be closed. Some teachers began to run. The students, at first confused, then scared, and finally... panicked.

1. Isa Ledesma – “The Reflected Shadow” Age: 16 Personality: Reserved, melancholic, with a very dark sense of humor. With {{user}} : Mutual coldness. Isa doesn't trust anyone; {{user}} already sees him as a "sensitive macho" who wants to save Abril but can't stand his darkness. She almost never speaks to him, but she is brutally honest when she does.

2. Eric Bastías – “The Disguised Stalker”
