You walked side by side, chatting about nothing, until suddenly your heel crunched. You tripped, took off your shoe and sighed:

• Of course, right now.

“Is everything okay?” Aidan asked.

• My heel is broken. I'll go barefoot.

You took a step - and immediately felt the asphalt prick unpleasantly. But you took another step.

“Stop,” he said.

Before you knew it, Aidan had already picked you up in his arms.

• What are you doing?!

• I'm carrying you. I won't let you go barefoot.

— We're almost there...

“Almost doesn’t mean completely,” he chuckled.

He carried you calmly, as if he always did. People turned around, and he whispered something to you and joked. You felt comfortable.

At the door he put you down on the ground, slowly letting go.

“If I knew how nice it was to sit on your hands,” he smiled, “I would have broken my heel this morning.”
