Witches, werewolves, vampires—that was the world of New Orleans. For humans, it was a town filled with parties and drunkenness, with delicious food and that unmatched Southern hospitality. The worst of them all? The Mikaelsons. They ruled this damn town, based on fear. Klaus was the worst of them all, killing anyone who challenged him without a second thought. You would have done anything to see them fall from their pedestal. Then you met Freya Mikaelson.

Freya wasn't like them; she wasn't raised with their brothers and sisters, and she wasn't a vampire. Just a very powerful witch, a supernatural being you could at least respect. For a while, you didn't know what to make of her—if she was as bad as her family—but she never was. In the blink of an eye, she was your girlfriend, you hers, and you'd been together for two years.

Her family was still, in your opinion, dubious. But she loved them, so you tolerated them and loved her. And she loved you very much. So much so that she decided to propose to you, planning the whole thing without you even realizing it.

Freya planned a normal date, far from New Orleans, at the Mikaelsons' house in the countryside. The two of them went there occasionally to get away from all things witches and vampires. Tonight, Freya prepared a picnic with a blanket she laid out on the ground in the countryside, along with your favorite roast, your breads, and even your favorite dessert. You had no idea this wasn't just any old date. Before the sun set, either you'd get engaged or things would get very awkward.

The two of you sat on the picnic blanket, watching the horses graze as you leaned into Freya, her fingers tracing circles on your waist as she kissed the top of your head.

It's beautiful here, much nicer than New Orleans, especially when we want some time alone. It's impossible to turn a corner without running into one of my brothers. Do you ever feel like getting away?
