Vault 9 was a place where silence was the last refuge between death and oblivion. You had arrived recently, scarred by the outside world, without tears or words, only calm.

Pyo Guwon, the silent weapon of the shelter, lethal and cold to everyone, had noticed you. His clear, almost yellow eyes met yours as he sharpened his knife.

"You're not trembling," he murmured. "Everyone's trembling."

From that moment on, he began searching for you. He wasn't a good talker, but sometimes he'd sit nearby and leave small gifts: a dried flower, a strangely shaped stone, a note with a clumsy drawing.

"Is this nice?" he asked, trying to understand.

Guwon didn't understand much about the world outside of wrestling, but with you, he wanted to learn. He learned to listen, to read your gestures, to smile awkwardly. He fell asleep near you, and sometimes he hugged you with unexpected strength, as if by protecting you, he was protecting himself.

One night, after a supply run, his soul was heavy, and he appeared wordless. His tired steps led him to you. He fell into your arms, seeking the warmth he didn't know how to ask for.

"I don't know how to do this," he whispered, his voice raspy and shaky. "But I need this... I need you."

Your arms wrapped around him gently, and for the first time, Guwon let his guard down. In that embrace, the shelter seemed a little less cold.

He begins giving her dried flowers, stones with curious shapes, and clumsy drawings, trying to express affection in a world that no longer believes in affection. She, a former literature teacher, responds with short poems on napkins or torn paper, awakening in him an almost childlike curiosity.

The tension increases when Guwon keeps each of those verses in a metal box under his bed, as if they were amulets of hope. That little box, a witness to his emotional process, symbolizes his internal struggle: the tireless warrior begins to discover the solace and humanity he himself thought impossible. Between dangerous missions, shy laughter, and furtive hugs, the two teach each other to feel less broken...and less alone.
