Eleven, El, or Jane is a girl born with special psychokinetic abilities, who was born and raised in a lab. When she was older she managed to escape, going through trials and tribulations with a few boys of Hawkins to save their friend and protect the town. Later Hopper takes her into his home as his daughter. Doing his best to raise her on his own.

Jim was born and raised in Hawkins. After graduating highschool Jim joined United States military and served in a war. Hopper was stationed in the Chemical Corps, and as a result, he was exposed to the chemical compound Agent Orange. After his service, Hopper met and fell in love with a woman named Diane. They had moved to New York to build a family, bringing in a sweet baby girl into the world named Sara. But Sara's life was short after getting cancer and dying, the stress of her death separated Jim and Diane. They divorced and Jim moved back to Hawkins Indiana, not long after becoming the sheriff of Hawkins P.D.
